Ian founded Aspire Biotech, Inc, in June 2001 to develop and exploit matrix biomaterials for biotechnology. He has over 25 years experience in Biomaterials R&D, and 20 years experience in Medical Device development with an emphasis on matrix materials for wound healing and drug delivery. Prior to Aspire he was Vice President and Chief Scientific Officer for MedLogic Global Corporation, Associate Director for New Technologies at Bristol-Myers Squibb, and held senior R&D and Tech Transfer/Business Development positions at 3 other medical device companies. Ian received a Ph.D. from the Department of Bioengineering and Medical Physics at the University of Liverpool in 1981 following his B.S. with honors in Chemistry, and has over 20 issued U.S. patents.
Ian sits on the Advisory Board of the El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization, is an Adjoined Professor at University of Colorado at Colorado Springs and sits on the Science Advisory Board of the College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
As Associate Vice President of El Pomar, Theo Gregory, oversees community outreach activities on behalf of the Colorado Springs-based Foundation. He implements and manages innovative programs designed to provide direct services to Colorado communities and charitable organizations. The foundation's current outreach efforts are focused on at-risk youth, ethnic minorities emerging leadership development and fostering amateur sports. Also, with more than 20 years of experience in athletic administration, September 2001, Gregory joined the Colorado Springs Sports Corporation staff (Assistant to the CEO/Rocky Mountain State Games) on a part-time basis as an executive-on-loan from El Pomar Foundation.
Prior to joining the staff of El Pomar Foundation, Gregory held the dual roles of Director of Athletics and Associate Director, Center for the Study of Sport and Leisure, at the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs (UCCS). His positions at UCCS encompassed oversight and direction of the university's athletic department, planning and managing fundraising activities, teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, and working with student-athletes and coaches.
Gregory began his career in athletic administration at Ohio State University, where he worked for 10 years as a graduate student, teacher and academic advisor/counselor for student-athletes. He then spent two years at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas as an academic advisor in the athletic department. Before becoming Director of Athletics at UCCS, Gregory served seven years as Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Affairs at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
In addition to his work with El Pomar Foundation, Gregory is active as a volunteer with numerous community organizations, including the Boys and Girls Club of the Pikes Peak Region, for which he serves as past President. He is a member Conference of Southwest Foundations membership committee; the Colorado Springs Assets for Youth Community Leaders Forum; the El Paso County Bar Association Diversity Project; Board of Directors of the El Pomar Institute for Innovation and Commercialization; Board of Directors of Goodwill Industries of Colorado Springs, the Colorado Springs World Arena and the Denver based Colorado Sports Hall of Fame. In addition, Gregory has served on the United States Olympic Committee Project Gold Committee; Colorado Springs Fine Arts Center Board of Trustees and the El Paso County S.A.L.T. (Seniors and Law Enforcement Working Together) Council.
Gregory received his bachelor's degree, magna cum laude, in physical education from Savannah State College. He went on to earn a master's degree in physical education and is a doctoral candidate in sports studies at The Ohio State University.
El Pomar Foundation is one of the largest Foundations in the Rocky Mountain region, making grants in arts and humanities, education, health, human services, amateur sports, civic and community initiatives with a special emphasis on excellence in nonprofit organizations and the development of its own operating programs.
Mr. Lucy joined Holland & Hart on January 2, 2002. He has 20 plus years of diverse federal regulatory, business and litigation experience. Mr. Lucy has technical expertise in federal/state procurement and acquisition matters, bid protests, ASBCA appeals, government contract audits and fiscal law issues, commercial space law, university/government technology transfer programs, and homeland defense.
Prior to joining Holland & Hart, Mr. Lucy worked as an Air Force Judge Advocate until his retirement as a Colonel in 2001. He has served as the General Counsel for the United States Air Force Academy, Air Force Space Command (20th Air Force), and the Field Operations Directorate of the Air Force Inspector General. Mr. Lucy has been the legal advisor for a $50 million RFP to privatize all utilities for the Air Force Academy. He has also provided legal counsel to an 800-member faculty for all research and development programs, which included patent/copyright issues. Other projects Mr. Lucy has been involved with while on active duty include a $14 million flight training privatization program and associated environmental impacts, OMB Circular A-76 implementation projects, the National Missile Defense System bed down study, the construction of a new $11 million Air Force legal training facility and dormitory and the management of all contracts for the construction of a $2 million minimum custody federal prison. He has also been responsible for the administration of all Air Force criminal defense services in Europe and the administration of the Air Force pro-government recovery claims program.
Since joining Holland & Hart, Mr. Lucy has negotiated a $160 million contract between a client and the state of Michigan for a child support enforcement system that entails software development and deployment through 90 state field offices. He has also filed a successful bid protest on behalf of another client winning an award of a $5 million contract, and has successfully settled a significant construction claim against the Army Corps of Engineers for $200,000.

Laura McGuire is a successful entrepreneur, having founded two companies in the lead management and demand generation industry. Laura is an internationally recognized expert in demand generation and lead management and is a frequent speaker at industry and association meetings and conventions in the United States and abroad. She is on several boards of directors and consults on new-technology marketing both in the U.S. and Europe.
Michael G. Semmens is the president of the Semmens Group, LLC (SGL), an organization dedicated to supporting the success of businesses by providing a broad range of management support services. SGL has a number of affiliate organizations to include Austin Growth Management and Investments.
Mr. Semmens has, for more than 30 years, demonstrated the acumen to develop and resource high quality organizations to successfully pursue and exploit business and organizational opportunities. His strengths range from the discernment of opportunities, including the development of outstanding personnel and team capabilities, and extend through the design and implementation of high quality/performance organizational structures and project management. Mr. Semmens began his career as a technologist and project manager, and rapidly progressed through management ranks to executive level responsibility. He has performed at this level in both large organizations and entrepreneurial start-ups.

In these positions, Mr. Semmens has been responsible for strategic planning, marketing and business development, organization operations and administration (contracts, security, quality, personnel and accounting), acquisitions, financing (more than $50 million in private finance), research and development, and contract execution.
Mr. Semmens is a current member of the WPO (World President's Organization), former member of the YPO (Young President's Organization), recipient of the R&D 100 Award for developing one of the 100 most significant products of 1996, recipient of engineering and quality achievement awards, registered Professional Engineer in five states (TX, Colorado, CA, AZ, NM), and a member of numerous professional management and engineering organizations.
Mr. Semmens graduated from Colorado State University. He was a graduate teaching assistant where he performed biomedical engineering research under the sponsorship of the National Science Foundation, and received honors as a graduate student. He later served as the President of the Engineering Dean.s council.
Mr. Semmens, a native of Colorado Springs, and his wife Cheryl make their home in Colorado Springs.
Loren Lancaster leads the Electronics & Semiconductor Group of Core Capital with over 25 years of executive and management operating experience. As managing director, he currently heads this specialty investment banking practice, focusing its resources almost exclusively on middle market electronics technology companies. Lancaster works personally with each ESG client and manages all ESG mergers, acquisitions, divestitures and growth financing activities.

Lancaster has developed a wide range of leading-edge electronic products and technologies, and has directed teams of world-class engineers and scientists in the development of award winning communication products at AT&T Bell Labs and Motorola. He has also joined with entrepreneurs to start and build several high-tech electronics and internet ventures. In this role, he led the development of industry-changing technologies, designed and executed pivotal market strategies and negotiated strategic financial transactions of various types.
Before transitioning into investment banking, Lancaster worked with the renowned T. J. Rogers at Cypress Semiconductor as director of technology development. Loren holds two degrees (with honors) in electrical engineering from the University of Texas-Austin, and 21 patents in the field of electronics. He has successfully completed 12 strategic transactions.
Current Activities:
Lancaster is currently a board member for NVX Corporation, Peak Materials, BlueFolder (advisory) and Front Range Venture Connection. He remains active in seed and early-stage ventures as president and board member of the Peak Venture Group, and he is an active member of the Colorado Springs Technology Start-Up Board and the Southern Colorado Investors Group (a local angel network). He is a member of the IT&E Group of the International Network of M&A Partners.
Michael Martensen is an associate with the law firm of Hogan and Hartson. His practice covers a broad range of intellectual property matters, including patent prosecution, patent litigation, patent portfolio management, IP protection in government contracts, client counseling in areas of infringement and validity of patents, and freedom to operate and product clearance investigations. He also helps his clients to maximize and preserve the value of their intellectual property when dealing with the government. In addition, Michael counsels companies on protecting and commercializing intellectual property developed under government funding, and also assists them in securing their rights when their technology is or may be of interest to government entities.
As a registered patent attorney, Michael prosecutes patents in the technical fields of computer science, software, Internet-related technologies, semiconductor devices and materials, encryption, fluid dynamics, and the mechanical arts, focusing on aerospace related inventions.
Prior to practicing law, Michael was a fighter pilot and mission commander in the U.S. Air Force (USAF), flying F-15s for more than 15 years. During his tenure in the Air Force, Michael traveled extensively and operated in several theaters, including the Middle East during and subsequent to the first Iraq war. In addition to his operational experiences, Michael was also a USAF program manager charged with operational testing of advanced systems and weapons related to the F-15 and other tactical systems. Michael is currently a retired officer in the USAF possessing the rank of Lt. Col.
Duncan Stewart is CEO of the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator and the Executive Director of the Colorado Homeland Defense Alliance. He has an extensive background in R&D, general management, and marketing in aerospace, defense, security, and biomedical industries. He is an Air Force veteran, having held leadership positions in weapons acquisition and aircraft fleet management. Duncan serves on the boards of several companies and nonprofit organizations to include the Colorado Springs Technology Incubator, Aqueous Biomedical, ConcealFab, FalconWorks, Peak Venture Group, YMCA of the Pikes Peak Region, and the International Council on Systems Engineering. He is a graduate of the USAFA, has an MS in Aerospace Management from Embry Riddle, and an MBA from the University of Notre Dame. While at the Incubator, Duncan co-founded High Altitude Investors angel club, signed a Memoranda of Understanding with Sybrant (software development company in India) and Riyadh Technology Incubation Center in Saudi Arabia, created intercollegiate National Security Innovation Competition and signed an agreement with the University of Colorado to help with the technology transfer of university research. Duncan and his wife Kathy have four children.
Dave White is the Vice President of Marketing for the Colorado Springs Economic Development Corporation. Dave joined EDC in March 2006 after a two-year stint as Business Attraction Manager for the City of Riverside, California. Dave brings more than 15 years of economic experience to the job, having served in Riverside and as Vice President of the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance in Pennsylvania.
Over the years he has been responsible for attracting more than 100 companies and over 10,000 jobs to his respective areas of assignment. During his time with the Pittsburgh Regional Alliance he assisted in attracting a major Sony manufacturing plant to Western Pennsylvania, culminating in more than 5,000 jobs. He also helped to initiate new technology programs in Pittsburgh to help overcome the reversal and decline in the steel industry in the mid-1980s. Dave worked with several German companies who opened offices and manufacturing facilities in Western Pennsylvania. In Riverside, he spearheaded the city's tech program, serving on the CEO Forum, a group of tech CEOs in Riverside, who are positioning the city for greater economic growth among tech firms. He also served as Executive Director of SmartRiverside, a non-profit organization commissioned by Mayor Ron Loveridge, to develop programs to increase tech awareness and opportunities in the city.
For five years, between 1998 and 2003, Dave served as Executive Director of the National Flag Foundation, a national non-profit organization affiliated with the Boy Scouts of America and dedicated to teaching young Americans respect for the Flag, responsible citizenship and an appreciation for the Founding of the United States. In this role, Dave increased funding and membership by 100 percent. He created two national educational programs, "Flags Across America" and "Young Patriots" that are being used by schools worldwide, including all the Department of Defense schools.
Dave is a 1987 graduate of Brigham Young University and a 1989 graduate of the University of Pittsburgh, having obtained a master's degree in urban and regional planning. Dave is fluent in German and conversant in Russian and has lived in seven states and two foreign countries: the United Kingdom and Austria. He enjoys American History, reading, computers, swimming, cycling, hiking, golf, traveling and spending time with his family. Dave is also very active in church responsibilities and in the Boy Scouts of America. He attained the rank of Eagle Scout as a young man and served on several scout camp staffs, within the Order of the Arrow and as Area II Chairman of the Western Region for the National Explorer President's Association. He is married to the former Cynthia Hansen. They celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary in June 2006 (on Flag Day). Dave and Cindy have four sons and a daughter and reside in Colorado Springs.
Kelly Roth is the President and CEO of the Colorado Springs-based company, Delta Solutions & Strategies, LLC, which offers technical and management consulting services to the defense industry. She is Chairwoman of the Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce and Entrepreneur magazine noted she is "making her mark in the male-dominated world of homeland defense." In 2007 the magazine ranked her company the 37th fastest growing woman-owned company in the country. Roth started the company eight years ago and has grown it from one employee - herself - to 65.
Ms. Roth provides expertise to United States Northern Command, NORAD, Air Force Electronic Systems Center, Air Force Space Command, Air Force Space Warfare Center, the Air Force National Security Space Institute and Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center.
Ms. Roth has significant experience in new business venture, development and growth, as well as community commitment.
Ms. Roth holds a BS in Biochemistry from the University of California, San Diego and has been a resident of Colorado Springs since 1995. She is married and has one daughter.
Marcus Boggs is the founder and owner of CEA Technologies, Inc. a contract engineering and manufacturing company headquartered in Colorado Springs, Colorado with operating facilities in the U.S. and the Dominican Republic. He has been involved in the medical device business for over 25 years and founded CEA in 1988, achieving double digit growth annually since that time.
Mr. Boggs began his career with W.L. Gore and Associates as a sales engineer, founded Wesmar, RMB Inc. and Castle Pines Medical in the early 90s and has focused his career on helping companies bring innovative technologies to the marketplace. He created the vCEA brand which is designed to accelerate the market launch of new medical devices.
Mr. Boggs is an active member of Advamed, has built long-term supplier relationships within the Fortune 20 Medical Device companies and is passionate about delivering cost effective medical technologies to the industry. He has participated on both for-profit and not-for-profit boards along with serving in voluntary roles for educational development.
