Corporate Social Responsibility has become the latest buzzword in business which has led to the ongoing debate over whether companies should exist solely for making profits or whether they should contribute to social and environmental concerns. In this EPIIC Nights our guest speakers will present both views discussing making profits vs. corporate social responsibility. Following the presentation we will invite attendees to ask questions of our speakers to understand the impact of both side of the argument.

Jonathan A. Liebert
CEO and Executive Director
Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado


CEO and Executive Director of the Better Business Bureau of Southern Colorado and the Colorado Institute for Social Impact, Jonathan is a Colorado Springs native. He is a recognized Leader in Colorado by the Beanstalk Foundation, and a 2016 Rising Star Award recipient by the Colorado Springs Business Journal. During his tenure at the BBB, Jonathan has increased awareness of the importance of integrity and trust in business and has revitalized the BBB brand that has played a crucial role in Southern Colorado for more than 35 years.

Previously, Jonathan served as Vice President of AspenPointe Enterprises, where he spent 14 years building a stronger community through social enterprise, solving prevalent social issues, and serving disadvantaged populations. Jonathan is one of the co-creators of the Peer Navigator Model, an innovative peer support model for the military that was presented to the White House Joining Forces Team and has been featured in the New York Times and Time Magazine. Jonathan is currently building the Colorado Institute for Social Impact which is an education-based social enterprise created to enhance and organize the emerging Fourth Sector of the economy, that uses entrepreneurial strategies to solve social issues in our community.

Jonathan is an Adjunct Professor in the School of Business at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs and currently serves on the following community boards: Colorado Nonprofit Association, Colorado Chapter of the Social Enterprise Alliance (past Chair), Pikes Peak Workforce Investment Board, Junior Achievement Board, The Resource Exchange Board, Vice Chair of Silver Key Social Enterprises, PPCC Business Advisory Committee, Innovations in Aging Collaborative Board and the Pikes Peak Small Business Development Center Advisory Board . Jonathan has a Masters in Counseling Psychology and Counselor Education from the University of Colorado Health and Sciences Center.

Joshua Dunn

Joshua Dunn (PhD University of Virginia) is Executive Director of the Center for the Study of Government and the Individual at the University of Colorado Colorado Springs. He is also Professor and Chair of the Department of Political Science. His research and teaching interests are in public law, education policy, and political theory. His books include Complex Justice: The Case of Missouri v. JenkinsFrom Schoolhouse to Courthouse: The Judiciary’s Role in American Education, and Passing on the Right: Conservative Professors in the Progressive University and he writes a quarterly article on law and education for the journal Education Next. His research and commentary have been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, New Republic, National Review, Weekly Standard, Chronicle of Higher Education, National Public Radio, Education Week, and Inside Higher Education. Previously he taught at the College of William & Mary and was a fellow in contemporary history, public policy, and American politics at the Miller Center of Public Affairs in Charlottesville, Virginia.
