The Garage at University of Colorado Colorado Springs (UCCS), hosted a canned food drive at the end of the 2024 Spring semester. Finals week is a very stressful time for many students, so The Garage wanted to provide an opportunity for students to kick back and give back. The Venture Attractor welcomed its 4th cohort of companies in early March of 2024. The eight companies participating in the cohort represent six different states spread across the United States. Over the next 16-weeks these companies will participate in the Scale to $1M Boot-Up Camp. Working with mentors and industry experts, each company hopes to eventually scale to the coveted $1M in revenue milestone! In November of 2023, the Colorado Springs Venture Attractor awarded two Torch Grants in its second round of grant funding. SendMyGear and Altitude Movement, the recipients of these grants, were participants in the 2023 cohort of the Scale to $1M Boot-Up Camp. After extensive due diligence these two companies were selected to receive these $50,000 grants. These grants were publicly awarded at the 2nd annual Spark the Springs on November 30th. The Lions Den Pitch Competition, held on March 16th, 2023, brought together some of the brightest minds from various educational institutions in Colorado Springs. At the beginning of November 2022, the College of Business at UCCS and the National Institute for Social Impact hosted a Social Impact Business Pitch Night. As part of the competition, UCCS students working on a Social Impact Business were eligible to apply to the competition. On Wednesday, October 12th, 2022 the Colorado Springs Venture Attractor hosted the first-ever Spark the Springs celebration! A celebration of entrepreneurship in Colorado Springs. In mid-August, The Garage at UCCS hosted a delegation of economic and entrepreneurship development professionals from around the world – 11 leaders from 11 different countries. This delegation was a part of a State Department and Colorado Springs World Affairs Council program to provide cross-cultural collaboration between the U.S. and other countries.
